The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is Awesome

For those environmentally conscious customers that want the luxury of a Cadillac Vehicle in an SUV, then the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is another way to get green without sacrificing quality and luxury. The Escalade Hybrid seats up to 8 people. It is also the only full-size luxury hybrid SUV on the market. The Escalade Hybrid achieves around 50% better fuel economy than other conventional models in city driving and at least 40% increase overall, due to its two mode hybrid powertrain.

The 2 mode hybrid powertrain integrates the brand’s Vortec 6.0-Liter V8 motor with the brand’s new Electrically Variable Transmission. The Electronic Variable Transmission has 2 electric engines and 4 driving gears.The V-8 engine in the Hybrid has the brand’s Active Fuel Management System, allowing four-cylinders to shut off in light load conditions and ultimately conserving fuel.The gasoline engine shuts off at stops or when idoling but restarts when needed, while the electric motor allows the engine to run in a 4 cylider mode more often.

With light throttle, the electric motors can propel the New Cadillac Escalade up to 30 mph, but together the electric motor and gasoline engine produce 332 hp and 367lb.ft. of torque.Located under the second row seats lies a 300-Volt battery pack that powers all electric engines, the steering system, and the electrically driven air conditioning compressor. Regenerative braking also charges the batteries. The Hybrid comes available in either front of all wheel drive.The hybrid powertrain does not come in any other trim but the standard length Escalade.

As far as towing capability, the New Cadillac Escalade will be rated to tow up to 6000 pounds with rear wheel drive and 5700 pounds with all wheel drive.To inform the driver which mode the SUV is running in, the Escalade Hybrid has a hybrid drive system inside showcased on an eight-inch touch screen. To encourage better fuel economy, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid comes with an economy gauge that represents which zones the drivers should drive in.The Escalade hybrid also has an Auto Stop reader on the RPM gauge to let drivers know when the gas engine is off.
