Christmas Party With Themes

During the holidays, one of the most popular items on many people’s “to-do” list includes planning a Christmas family party, which can be a great deal of fun. There are so many different party ideas that you can explore for this particular holiday; the possibilities are endless.

One idea is to have a “wrap a gift for Christmas” party. This involves having everyone bring a bunch of presents to one location and start wrapping. Normally, everyone brings their own wrapping paper, etc.; however, if you are hosting the party, then it is always a good idea to have extra paper, along with lots of bows, ribbons, tape, scissors and whatever else may be needed. You may also want to include refreshments. It does not have to be much, just some finger foods and drinks. You can decide to wrap all of your gifts at one time or perhaps go to different locations on different days.

Holidays are known for being hectic and busy, so incorporating things that you probably have to do anyway with fun things, like different party ideas can make this go a lot smoother. If you normally bake your own goodies for gifts and desserts, then consider sending out party invitations to friends requesting their presence at your home and have them bring a favorite Christmas cookie recipe and ingredients. Have a cookie baking, decorating, sampling and sharing party. Your kids can join in the fun by decorating the cookies, while the adults whip up more batches to be baked.

Another good decorating Christmas party idea is to deck the outside of your home. This could be a great neighborhood party idea, especially if there is an elderly or disabled person in the neighborhood who really needs help with stringing the lights and hanging decorations. This type of party would not make them feel like they were accepting charity, as everyone would be helping everyone else. Even those who do not normally decorate may suddenly feel the urge or perhaps they would be willing to set up a hot chocolate table outside so that everyone could get warmed up.

Party ideas do not have to be centered on one particular religion or event on Christmas. Perhaps last year everyone was reluctant to invite a neighbor over because their religion was different; maybe they celebrate Hanukkah instead. So this year your Christmas party invitations could include those neighbors by adding a few things that may make it more comfortable for everyone. It does not have to be much, just a few simple touches such as goodie bags for the kids that include dreidels and gelt (gold wrapped chocolate coins); or even serving one traditional food such as potato latkes.
